FMD Cases Confirmed in the PreSchool - Take Precautions
We had a case of HFMD (hand-foot-mouth disease) in the PS Nursery confirmed last Thursday evening. We disinfected the classroom Friday and monitored the kids. Monday, we sent out a health advisory and started monitoring the kids. After we got confirmation of other kids also contracting the disease, we decided to suspend classes in the PS this today and tomorrow so we could thoroughly disinfect the classrooms, and get a chance for symptoms to manifest in the infected kids so they can be kept at home to rest and, for those who had gotten the HFMD, to recuperate. On Monday, we will check the kids before we let them in to the classrooms.
We started preventive measures in the GS/JHS also today (Disinfecting, checking the younger kids, esp the LOwer Prime, alerting all the staff, and so on). The kids were also informed about it today and reminded about proper handwashing.
HFMD is a mild childhood disease but can become a most inconvenient one esp when kids have difficulty eating because of mouth sores. So better to be safe than sorry, but we don't want to unduly alarm parents and create panic.
We'd greatly appreciate hearing feedback from parents, should you receive any, about the measures we have instituted.
